Our Occupational Therapy Services
Functional Capacity Assessment
Our occupational therapists assess how a person’s health, disability and functional abilities affect their everyday activities, independence and safety.
Assessments can identify support needs and provide recommendations for appropriate supports, services, assistive technology and home modifications to help clients participate safely and independently in daily life.
Assistive Technology
Our occupational therapists assess and prescribe assistive technology to support clients’ mobility, independence, safety and daily activities at home and in the community.
Examples include wheelchairs, scooters, mobility aids, lift chairs, electric beds, hoists, bathroom equipment and other daily living aids. Equipment trials can be arranged where required to determine suitability.
Home Modification
Our occupational therapists assess the home environment and recommend modifications to improve accessibility, safety and independence, while reducing environmental barriers and falls risks.
Recommendations may include grab rails, handrails, ramps, shower modifications, accessible bathrooms, doorway modifications and other minor or complex home modifications.
Pressure Care Management
Our occupational therapists assess clients who are at risk of pressure injuries and recommend appropriate pressure care strategies and equipment to support skin integrity, positioning, comfort and safety.
Recommendations may include pressure-relieving cushions, mattresses, seating solutions and positioning equipment, based on the client’s individual needs and environment.
Life Skills Training
Our occupational therapists provide practical training to help clients develop or maintain the skills required to participate more independently in everyday activities and community life.
Support may focus on personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, routines, organisation, money management, community access and other activities of daily living.
Housing and Care Needs Assessments
Our occupational therapists assess clients’ functional abilities, support requirements and living environment to determine their housing and care needs and provide recommendations for appropriate supports.
Where required, we can provide supporting assessments and documentation relating to Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), Supported Independent Living (SIL), Individualised Living Options (ILO), and public housing or other care arrangements.
